Story

I agree with the fact that people remember things in narrative stories. I know when I recall a memory I can picture in my mind what area I was in or where I was at that particular moment. Also in high school when I would study for a test I would relate things to one another, and make stories or songs to remember things, this is defiantly an example of how we remember things. I also agree with the fact that story telling in a business sense works well. I know I am more inclined to buy something after I have read a little about it, and I have more of a feeling as to where/the story behind whatever I am looking at. I think today a perfect combo is to be able to listen to others and understand their stories and then be able to analysis them. A person needs to be able to jungle aspect of both sides of the brain. I defiantly agree that we are our stories; experiences do make a person, I have heard this my whole life, and have recently began to relate it to my life.

Design

Design-

I like the idea and the emphasis on how design is becoming the most influential aspect in our economy. Also how the focus is more on quality and utility, than bulk of goods. I want to agree with a lot of what Pink is saying in this chapter, however I think it is hard now with our economy. I think for our economy to change into a society focused on the right side of the brain, will take a long time. Especially now when our economy is beginning to lose money and prices of quality, art, and design are rising. I completely agree with the idea that beauty can improve people’s way of life and thinking. I think in other countries there is more of a realization of this than in our country and I think it will take a long time for our country to change.

Conceptual Age

The Conceptual Age, I think it is very exciting that we are moving into this age, where it will be to many of our benefits. I thought it was really interesting that people are noticing that those who study paintings are more observant and even in medical situations this is a quality that is needed. After reading through this section of the book, it makes me feel like I'm in the right place, learning the right things. Also I like the idea of the "six senses" Design, Story, Symphony, Empathy, Play, Meaning. All of these qualities are what we at art school are learning, and studying. It is very exciting.


Presentations-

One of my classmate's presentation that i liked alot, was one where her timing with her facts and images were well put together. It was relaxed yet conveyed alot of information that was clear. i was able to understand well. Also she showed pictures of the artist while she was speaking, and a video of the work which showed what she was mentioning when she was describing her artwork.

I have managed to place an image on my website but I have been having trouble posting it on the Internet. For some reason it is hard to reopen my HTML writing. I wrote it correctly however it keeps on mixing up the lettering when I try to open it again.
